⚖ Compare

The 360 Spider followed the Modena two years later and was Ferrari's 20th road-going convertible. It carried over the coupé's mechanicals virtually unchanged; thanks to its all-aluminum construction, it weighs just 60 kg more. The sweeping beltline culminates in fairings housing sturdy roll hoops. At launch, the Spider even outsold the Modena; worldwide production reached 7565 Spiders and 8800 Modenas.

Good to know

  • As a wedding gift for Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Ferrari employees built a one-off 360 Barchetta in 2000, completely without a roof.
  • Of the 2389 Spiders built for the US, only 670 had a manual transmission.

Production numbers and market

Worldwide, 8800 Modenas, 7565 Spiders, and 1288 Challenge Stradales were produced. For the US market, 4199 vehicles were built, comprising 1810 coupés and 2389 Spiders. Only 469 Modenas and 670 Spiders received the gated six-speed manual transmission, with all others featuring the single-clutch automated F1 gearbox. The manual transmission thus remained an exception on the Spider as well.

Related models

The Spider is part of a family that also includes the Modena and the special-edition Challenge Stradale. This road-legal track car received ceramic brakes from the Enzo, a stiffer suspension setup, enhanced aerodynamics, reduced weight, and, in mid-2003, more power: 317 kW (431 PS). Completely roofless, by contrast, was the 2000 Barchetta, built by Ferrari employees as a one-off for Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
