The 308 Quattrovalvole was introduced at the 1982 Paris Motor Show as the GTB and GTS. The name derives from the four valves per cylinder, which raised output back to 240 hp-metric and restored part of the performance lost to emissions equipment. It is recognizable by a louvered grille in the front hood, power side mirrors with a small enamel badge, and rectangular auxiliary lights in the new grille. 748 GTB and 3042 GTS were built; in 1985 it was succeeded by the virtually identical 328.

Technical details
Except for the four-valve cylinder heads with dual overhead camshafts (32 valves), the V8 remained essentially the 308 GTSi engine: 2927 cm³ displacement, bore and stroke of 81 × 71 mm. The Bosch K-Jetronic and the electronic Magneti Marelli Digiplex ignition were carried over from its predecessor. The transmission and final-drive ratios were revised to match the altered character of the four-valve engine. All cars for the USA were fitted with catalytic converters.
Output by market
The European version produced 240 hp-metric at 7000 rpm and reached 260 Nm at 5000 rpm. The US version remained below that at 230 hp SAE net at 6800 rpm and 255 Nm at 5500 rpm. The German excerpt quotes 179 kW and a top speed of 258 km/h for the model.
Equipment and details
Inside, there was a matte black three-spoke steering wheel with a triangular hub; the seat centers could be ordered in fabric instead of full leather. Available at extra cost were metallic paint, a deep front spoiler, air conditioning, and wider 16-inch Speedline wheels with Pirelli P7 tires. The side turn signals became rectangular instead of round.
