⚖ Compare

Hardly different from the 857 S on paper, the 860 Monza was far more competitive in international sports car racing in 1956. The four-cylinder received bore and stroke dimensions of 102 by 105 mm, yielding 3432 cm³ while still producing 280 PS. The wheelbase grew by 100 mm to 2350 mm, and a new coil-spring front axle, as on the 500 TR, kept the 100 kg heavier car nimble. Fangio and Castellotti won the 12 Hours of Sebring with it; at the Mille Miglia, two 860 Monzas finished second and third.
