Nigel Mansell is a British former racing driver who became Formula 1 World Champion with Williams in 1992. In 1989, he moved to Ferrari; he was the last driver personally selected by Enzo Ferrari shortly before the latter's death in August 1988. Ferrari presented him with a Ferrari F40. He won the very first race of the 1989 season in Brazil, becoming the first driver to win with a semi-automatic gearbox; in Hungary, he won from 12th on the grid. Due to his fearless style, the Tifosi dubbed him "il leone," the lion.
