The 612 Scaglietti is a four-seat gran turismo that replaced the 456 in 2004. Featuring an aluminum body, it is only the second Ferrari crafted entirely from this material after the 360 Modena. The name honors Modenese coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti, while the large side scallops and headlights reference the 1954 375 MM. The V12 delivers 540 PS; its successor was the FF.

Good to know
- The styling references the 1954 375 MM commissioned by director Roberto Rossellini for his wife Ingrid Bergman.
- Only 199 of the 3025 built 612s were equipped with a manual transmission, including 60 destined for the United States.
- Two-thirds of the delivered vehicles were not finished in Rosso Corsa, mostly in silver metallic.
- The name suggests six liters, but the V12 actually displaces 5748 cm³.

Chassis and production
The spaceframe was developed with Alcoa using extrusions and castings, onto which the aluminum body is welded. This chassis also served as the foundation for the 599 GTB. Ferrari built the body at the Carrozzeria Scaglietti facility in Modena, former home of the car's namesake, after which it was transported to Maranello for installation of the V12 and interior.
Transmissions and packages
The F1A transmission from Graziano Trasmissioni is a refined version of the F1 gearbox in the 360. From 2006, the HGT-S and HGT-C packages were offered, bringing recalibrated dampers and a transmission shifting 150 milliseconds faster, complete with an F1-S mode. Also included were a sports exhaust system, polished 19-inch wheels, and painted brake calipers. The sole distinction: the HGT-C additionally included carbon-ceramic brakes.
One-To-One program
At the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari introduced the One-To-One personalization program, which launched with the 612 and was later rolled out across the entire model range. Customers could choose virtually everything themselves, from leather colors to brake calipers. From that point on, the 612 was available exclusively through this program. Ferrari had previously introduced the SuperFast automated transmission and an electrochromic glass roof in 2007.
The 612 K
In 2007, Pininfarina created the Ferrari 612 K for US businessman and collector Peter S. Kalikow based on a 612 Scaglietti; the K stands for Kalikow. With the 2008 facelift, a panoramic glass roof became standard equipment, and from model year 2009 the semi-automatic F1 transmission was fitted as standard.
