The 430 Scuderia is the road-going version of the F430 Challenge and the successor to the 360 Challenge Stradale; Michael Schumacher unveiled it in 2007 at the IAA in Frankfurt. It is 100 kilograms lighter than the standard F430 and produces 510 PS. It was the first Ferrari equipped with the "Superfast II" transmission control software, yielding shift times under 60 milliseconds. Ferrari stated a 0-to-97 km/h acceleration time of 3.1 seconds.

Good to know

  • Of the 2523 units of the 430 Scuderia produced, roughly one in ten was sold in Germany.
  • The power-to-weight ratio improved from 2.96 to 2.5 kg per PS.
  • The shift time of under 60 milliseconds set a remarkable benchmark: the Enzo had required 110 milliseconds.
  • An ion-sensing knock-detection system allows for a higher compression ratio in the engine.

Purpose and naming

The 430 Scuderia—dropping the "F" prefix—succeeded the 360 Challenge Stradale as the street version of the F430 Challenge. Michael Schumacher took the wraps off the car at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). "Scuderia" translates to "stable" and is also applied to racing teams, including Ferrari's own. Its direct market competitor was envisioned to be the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, whose name translates to "superlight."

Power and weight

The engine delivers 510 PS at 8500/min and 471 Nm at 5250/min, 15 kW (20 PS) more than in the production coupé. This was made possible by revised intake and exhaust systems as well as knock detection, which allows for a higher compression ratio. Under DIN standards, the car weighs 1250 kg, making it 100 kg lighter than the standard production car. According to the factory, it accelerates to 100 km/h in under 3.6 seconds.

Electronics and tires

The transmission was upgraded with "Superfast2" software to deliver shift intervals under 60 milliseconds. A new traction control system integrated the 599 GTB's F1-Trac setup with vehicle stability control and the E-Diff electronic differential. The Scuderia rides on wider, specially engineered tires sized 235/35 ZR19 in the front and 285/35 ZR19 at the rear.
