The Ferrari SF71H was presented in Maranello on February 22, 2018; the 71 in the name refers to the company's 71st anniversary. Compared to the SF70H, it features a longer wheelbase and a revised cooling system. Ferrari took the concept of moving the crash structure out of the sidepods further, leading to an intricate bargeboard arrangement. At the Spanish Grand Prix, the team mounted the mirrors on the Halo, but the FIA declared the winglets above them illegal. In 21 races, it took 6 victories; Sebastian Vettel named his car "Loria".

- In Belgium, the car carried the lettering "Nei Nostri Cuori" for the victims of the Genoa bridge collapse.
- The SF71H took two wins in the first three races and set lap records in Bahrain and Shanghai, starting from pole in both.
- It has only two pedals, throttle on the right and brake on the left; the clutch is operated via a paddle on the steering wheel.

Technical details
The chassis was designed by Mattia Binotto, Simone Resta, Enrico Cardile, and David Sanchez, with Corrado Iotti heading power unit development. Because the regulations remained largely stable for 2018, the car is an evolution of the SF70H. The 1.6-liter turbo V6 is complemented by a 120 kW electric motor; the sequential transmission has eight gears. A small shark fin runs along the engine cover, supporting a low T-wing above the exhaust.
2018 season
After trailing Mercedes in Singapore, Russia, and Japan, Ferrari removed several updates in the US and was able to beat Mercedes again. Through the end of 2024, the SF71H remained Ferrari's most successful car of the hybrid era, with 6 wins—5 by Vettel and 1 by Räikkönen—and 24 podiums. The SF70H achieved 5 wins and 20 podiums.
Livery and tribute
Following the departure of Santander, the livery contained very little white. At the Japanese Grand Prix, a new design debuted featuring the Mission Winnow logo, a joint initiative with title sponsor Philip Morris International. Marchionne died on July 25, 2018 following complications during surgery.
