⚖ Compare

The 812 Superfast debuted in 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show and is the successor to the F12berlinetta. Its 6.5-liter V12 produces 800 PS and, according to Ferrari in 2018, was the most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to a production car. It operates without turbocharging or hybrid technology. The carbon-ceramic brakes come from the LaFerrari, and the wheels measure 20 inches front and rear. The family also includes the 812 GTS with a folding hardtop.

Good to know

  • The 812 Superfast is the first Ferrari with electric power steering (EPS).
  • In 2018, Motor Trend measured 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds and the quarter mile in 10.4 seconds.
  • The high tail is intended to recall Pininfarina's 365 GTB/4 Daytona, even though the car was created at the Ferrari Styling Centre.
  • The center console lacks an infotainment screen; status displays are shared between the instrument cluster and a passenger-side touchscreen.

Engine and chassis

The F140 GA is an enlarged version of the 6.3-liter engine from the F12berlinetta, displacing 6496 cm³ and producing 800 PS at 8500 rpm. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission comes from Getrag and is based on that of the 458. The Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes measure 398 mm up front and 360 mm at the rear; they are said to improve braking distance from 100 km/h by 5.8 percent compared to the F12berlinetta. The tires are Pirelli P Zero in 275/35 ZR 20 front and 315/35 ZR 20 rear.

Aerodynamics and steering

Active and passive aerodynamics lower the drag coefficient compared to the F12berlinetta. The front generates downforce, features intakes for brake cooling, and ducts for the underbody; air ducts in the hood channel air to the sides. The diffuser features active flaps that open at high speeds to reduce drag. From the F12tdf, the car adopted the Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 rear-wheel steering system. Weight distribution is 47 to 53 percent.

Performance

Ferrari claims a top speed of 211 mph and 2.9 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Motor Trend achieved 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and the quarter mile in 10.4 seconds at 138.6 mph. At Fiorano, the 812 Superfast posted a lap time of 1:21.50, 0.50 seconds behind the more track-focused F12tdf.

Particulate filters and accessories

Cars built in 2019 or earlier do not have gasoline particulate filters; they have been fitted starting with the 2020 model year. The interior takes inspiration from the F12berlinetta and the LaFerrari, particularly in the air vents and dashboard. As with earlier models, customers could order a specially designed, model-branded multi-piece luggage set tailored to fit the trunk.
